In 1999, the Jacob Foundation, doing business as Champions for Children was established by William and Deborah Parker following the diagnosis of their children Jacob and Sophia, with Fragile X Syndrome.  Champions for Children was originally created to raise money and awareness of Fragile X Syndrome, however, over the past 15 years our focus has changed to include all people with special needs.  To date, we have donated more than $125,000.00 to various charities.
Based in South Central Pennsylvania, Champions for Children has raised money for the National Fragile X Foundation, UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute, FRAXA Research Foundation, The Arc of Dauphin and Lebanon County, Special Olympics Area M, CATRA,  and the CARE Project.  In addition to these organizations, we have been blessed to be able to donate to local families who are in need.
Champions for Children hosts a large fundraiser each year.  These have included golf tournaments, Galas and Award Ceremonies and clinics.  In addition, we have smaller fundraisers throughout the year.
Champions for Children maintains an online store at that sells jewelry and stickers to help raise money and awareness for Fragile X Syndrome.  Champions for Children will always hold Fragile X closest to our hearts as our 3 children affected by Fragile X ARE the impetus behind our work in the special needs community.
Champions for Children also maintains a scholarship fund of which $500.00 is awarded annually to a youth, pursuing higher education, who has also dedicated his/her time to volunteering with those affected by intellectual or physical disabilities.
The core committee of Champions for Children consists of less than 5 hardworking individuals.  While our committee might be small our outreach and our vision is quite far reaching.  We are proud of all the work we have done in our community and will continue this good work for years to come.
Thank you for visiting our site.  It is a work in progress, so keep looking back for updates.
